If you are looking for a PhD position, and you are interested in Green Chemistry, Circular Economy and Chemical Recycling of Waste Polymer, please check out this opportunity:

The PhD position is related to a BMBF project with the target to bring the idea of using waste polymer as sustainable raw material within 10 years to a fully developed process in industry. BasCat's contribution is to identify the right catalyst for this task.


Initiative applications are always welcome. If you apply for a position as Postdoc or PhD student, please state clearly in which research groups you would like to work.

If you are interested to join the group „Synthesis and Surface Modification of Catalysts” you should be familiar with common synthesis techniques for heterogeneous catalysts, e.g. incipient wetness impregnation, wet impregnation, sol-gel chemistry, precipitation, or solvent combustion synthesis. You should also be open to learn new techniques that are less common, e.g. Atomic Layer Deposition on particles or the single source precursor approach. In addition, you will have the opportunity to gain new capabilities in the field of heterogeneous catalyst characterization, ex situ and in situ. You will work in an interdisciplinary team and come into direct contact with chemical engineers and data scientists.

If you are interested to join the group „Reactor and Process Analysis” you should have a strong background in heterogeneous catalysis, technical chemistry, or chemical engineering. Possible tasks include catalytic studies in transient single-tube reactors, parameter field studies in parallel reactors, or design and construction of new reactor set-ups. You will work in an interdisciplinary team and come into direct contact with scientists working on catalyst synthesis, catalyst characterization or data science.
